These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the ForgottenL website and game server (together, the “Service”), operated by the ForgottenL team (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms, to the Privacy Policy, to the Game Rules and, if you donate, to the Donation Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Who we are and what this is
ForgottenL is a free, fan-made, non-commercial hobby game server. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to CipSoft GmbH. Tibia® is a registered trademark of CipSoft GmbH; all related names, characters and artwork belong to their respective owners. We provide no official Tibia service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian where the law of your country requires it. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to make any donation. We may ask you to confirm your age or consent at any time.
Your account
- You must provide a valid e-mail address and keep your details accurate.
- You are responsible for your password and for everything done with your account. Do not share it. We will never ask for your password.
- Keep your recovery key safe. It is the only way to recover your account if you lose your password.
- Accounts and characters may not be sold, traded, lent or transferred for real money or any real-world value.
Acceptable use
You agree not to: cheat, use bots or third-party tools that give an unfair advantage, or exploit bugs (report them to the staff instead); attack, overload or attempt to break into the Service or other players’ accounts (including denial-of-service attempts and scanning); harass, threaten or discriminate against others; post illegal, hateful, sexual or infringing content; impersonate staff or other players; advertise other servers; or use the Service for any unlawful purpose. The Game Rules apply in addition to these Terms.
Virtual items and game content
Characters, items, levels, points, houses and any other in-game content are virtual, are licensed to you for use inside the game only, have no cash value and remain our property. You acquire no ownership of them. We may modify, rebalance, reset or remove game content at any time, including resets or wipes of characters, items, houses or the whole world. Our commitments regarding donation points in such cases are set out in the Donation Terms.
Availability and changes
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. It may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, attacks or reasons beyond our control, and may be changed, suspended or permanently closed at any time. We do not guarantee that it will be free of errors, data loss or downtime. Keep that in mind before investing time or money in it.
Moderation, suspension and termination
We may warn, mute, ban, delete or restrict any account, character, forum post or content, with or without notice, if we believe these Terms or the Rules have been broken, to protect the Service or other players, or to comply with the law. Staff decisions are final, although you may appeal respectfully through the contact below. Banned or deleted accounts are not entitled to compensation, except where mandatory law says otherwise. You may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post (forum posts, comments, avatars), but you grant us a free, worldwide licence to host, display and moderate it as part of the Service. You confirm that you have the right to post it and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we give no warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, items, characters, points or profits, or for any damage resulting from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, nor your mandatory rights as a consumer.
Third-party services
The Service may link to or rely on third parties (for example hosting and payment providers). We are not responsible for their services, content or policies.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the new version. For important changes we will try to notify players through the website or in game.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of the country where the operator is established, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live. Disputes should first be raised with us in good faith.
